A Fancy Lunch Will Not Get You Business

I'm sure there are of few of you who have registered for a networking luncheon, arrived at the last minute, sat with someone you already knew and immediately left afterwards. Do you realize the true value of any event is networking before, during and after the event? A better question is how much business have you missed because you didn't speak to the viable prospect sitting at your very own table?

Diane Helbig, of Seize This Day Coaching, who spoke at last month's Women in Business event, stressed networking is not gathering as many business cards or speaking to as many people as you can. It's simply an opportunity to learn more about other business people in your community and a cost effective tool to begin building mutually beneficial relationships for the future.

I challenge everyone to make the most out of our Annual Meeting next week. Step out of your comfort zone and sit with new faces, learn about their businesses and walk away with a few valuable contacts.

Best wishes,
Terri Criss, WHACC Communications Committee Chair

Open enrollment for workers' compensation MCO deadline is May 28

Open enrollment for your workers' compensation Managed Care Organization (MCO) takes place for one month every two years in Ohio. This year, open enrollment is occurring from May 3rd through May 28th. As a WHACC member and Ohio employer, it is important to understand the role of the MCO so that you have the most effective workers' compensation approach for your business.

An MCO is charged with three primary functions: medical management and monitoring of injured workers; claims processing and management; and return to work planning and coordination.

Be sure to keep your workers' compensation MCO program in mind as the 2010 open enrollment season unfolds through May 28, 2010.

If you have any questions about the role of the MCO, please contact Karen Agnich, President, AdvoCare, Inc. at 216-514-1451.
Advocare, Inc. is a member of the WHACC and located in Warrensville Heights.
